So for in 2013 I have been putting a TON of emphasis on things I want to change and accomplish, as well as a new positive attitude that I want to take on so that I can live an all over more positive lifestyle. I have been starting off this process by doing simple things that make me happy and feeding my soul such as more yoga, listening to music that I absolutely love everyday on the train, and trying out some fun new healthy recipes. This has all been making me feel a little bit better about going to a job that I dislike everyday, while searching for another. Then, on my way to work yesterday, I pulled my phone out of my pocket to check my bank account balance and transaction history. I noticed that our rent check had been taken out for the wrong amount. “Hmmmm.” I thought. “That is so strange!” So I grabbed my checkbook and realized that even though our rent costs the same every month, I, for no reason at all, made the check out for the wrong amount. Great.

At that moment, it became very clear to me that I needed to find a balance between feeding my soul, and feeding my brain. So I started doing some research, and came up with a list of some great foods that will help give you and your family brain power when incorporated into your diet and are honestly considered to be brain food.

  • Apples
  • Blackberries
  • Cinnamon
  • Salmon
  • Tomatoes
  • Pumpkin Seeds
  • Fresh sage
  • Broccoli
  • Whole Grains
  • Dark Chocolate
  • Peanut Butter
  • Coffee

So, let’s all make a blackberry and apple smoothie, and toast to a new year! (This sounds way easier than travelling to see the Wizard of Oz to get a new brain!)

Fashionably Yours,

Allison
