Everyday Yoga Wear For Mom and Baby #MomStyleMonday

This post contain affiliate links.  Ok mamas, give your hands a raise if you're wearing yoga pants right now? I got you, raising my hands over here, too. They are just so comfortable and have the amazing ability to somehow hide those problem areas and make us feel wonderful. It's a win/win: self esteem boost and look fab - what more could we want? Well, I'm excited to share an awesome brand today with you all in this week's mom style Monday that is great for both mom and babe: Boodywear.  I know that in pictures, especially over on Instagram, I might look like I'm pulled together all the time and perfectly styled from head to toe. But the truth is that I really do spend most of my days just like you all: in comfy, cozy yoga pants. I workout 4 days a week, juggle bus stop drop off and pickup each day and pretty much spend the rest of the time with my laptop on my lap writing. Translation: Boodywear has been a lifesaver for my lifestyle. Their pieces are seriously some of those most comfortable pieces of clothing that has ever touched our skin - and I even wore this outfit to Barre class last week! Each piece is seriously buttery soft, but the benefits don't end there. What's different about Boodywear? Every piece works to control any type of odor or germs (they are all both Anti-bacterial & Anti-fungal), are hypoallergenic and super breathable. Seriously, Blake smiles every single time we put this outfit on here. They are also moisture wicking - making it … [Read more...]

This post contains affiliate links.  Ok mamas, today I'm sharing a super fun #momstylemonday featuring Romwe, which has uber trendy clothes for moms at ridiculously low prices (I'm talking like 70% off all the time.) First, if you haven't checked out last week's post, hop over here - I've got some trendy graphic tees for littles! I can add like 5 items (no joke) to my wardrobe for under $50. Trendy Clothes For Moms I am absolutely obsessed with these pieces (courtesy of Romwe) and have been wearing them like crazy. 9 Postpartum Clothing Styles For New Moms To Rock

Here I stand, 5 months postpartum and though I'm still not back to my normal self quite yet, I've learned to work with this new body of mine. I've finally gotten back in the groove with a good fitness routine and am almost finished with my first ever round of Whole30 (today's the last day eeeek - I'll be sharing more details tomorrow!) and really am finally feeling great. (Though, that doesn't mean that I don't have discouraging days anymore or moments where I obsessively inspect every part of my body in the mirror, desperate to shed some inches.) I'm finally at that place where I'm ready to ditch the leggings and go shopping for some new jeans, and wanted to roundup my postpartum clothing styles and share all my postpartum fashion tips in one post with you all. Postpartum Clothing Style You Will Rock With Ease Dressing your postpartum body and finding postpartum clothing can be tough because you still have weight to lose, your old stuff doesn't fit and most likely you don't want to spend too much money investing in new things just yet. (Relax mama, give yourself some time!) So, here's some postpartum fashion that you can pull from your wardrobe, or buy super inexpensively that will help you feel like you have a full postpartum wardrobe. 1. 5 Things I’m Loving This February

January pretty much flew by, right? I felt like I blinked my eyes and we're in February and have a full fledged 5 month old on our hands! I sorta laid low in January, working on lots on back end stuff and updating old favorites and making them better for everyone. But, I have also been planning some fun new series and this is one of them: 5 things I'm loving each month. I do a lot of shopping behind the scenes and don't get to photograph everything or all of my favorite looks, so I thought this would be a great way to highlight some inexpensive (most of the time), pieces that are just fun to shop and add to your wardrobe, home, or kid's wardrobes each month. This month is all about the #momstyle. And, if you feel like it, hop on over to Instagram where I will do my best to share the behind the scenes to our everyday + some fashion favorites, too. 1. Flared denim  Ahem, if you haven't been living under a rock, you know that flared denim is all the rage these days. No need to toss your skinnies though, but by adding a great pair of flares you will add some dimension to your wardrobe for sure. (Read my full guide to wearing flared denim here.) Anyways, this pair from Free People (only $34!) are my favorites and I promise, promise you don't have to be a skinny minnie to wear them: just follow my guide for altering and balancing volume.  〉Shop Now  2. A Drawstring Bag If you're always on the hunt for a mom bag (a.k.a a bag that carries everything), you … [Read more...]

The Best Winter Coats For Women

Talk about being cold. Temperatures have definitely dropped and I can pretty much do nothing but shiver when I'm outdoors. I have a big, puffy white coat that I wear for warmth during chilly bus stop runs, but I had been wanting something new for when I'm out in the city and just want to look chic. We donated a ton of our coats right before Christmas, so there was room in our hall closet for me to get shopping for winter coats for women. Chris took the hint though and bought me this awesome Calvin Klein Faux-Leather-Trim Asymmetrical Coat.  Very rarely these days am I dressed up like this though, as most of the time I'm busy babywearing, but nonetheless, it's super fun to get dressed up from time to time, throw on some knee-high boots (mine are similar to these) and sunnies (my husband also bought me this pair for Christmas!) and truly feel like myself again. Honestly, when I walked into Macy's (where we got the coat) I had in mind that I wanted something in emerald green or burgundy, but this Calvin Klein Faux-Leather-Trim Asymmetrical Coat stood out and I had to have it! The gray in this coat goes with absolutely everything and I love the leather detailing, as it gives it a super edgy look. You all know that I've been working in reinventing my postpartum style and this is definitely something that I feel great in and keeps me warm during the cold weather, too. So if you find yourself searching for winter coats for women, this is a great … [Read more...]

The Perfect Holiday Dress To Flatter a Post-Baby Body

Getting dressed up around the holidays is a lot of fun. But, getting dressed around the holidays after you just had a baby and are still unsure of your new body is not so fun. I've been searching for the perfect holiday dress to flatter a post-baby body for quite some time (Ya know, so I can hide my love handles on Christmas eve?) and I finally found one that I love that will take me way past holiday festivities. I know I've mentioned before that I'm trying to step outside my comfort zone and play with mixing prints and different textures, so I tried to do that here - and you would be surprised how easy it is to throw together a memorable look. My new Pink Floral Print Chiffon Long Sleeve Maxi Dress is from Pink Blush and I'm pretty obsessed with all the possibilities it brings. I paired the floral dress with my Zamri faux fur jacket (the sleeves also zip off to make it a vest!) and completed the look with my favorite booties, giving it all a very boho feel to it. Sometimes it's just fun to step out of the "mom mold" and put together an innovative outfit. What was my goal here? To find the perfect holiday dress to flatter a post-baby body you have to keep in mind your areas that you're insecure about. The last thing you want is to be enjoying yourself at a holiday party while simultaneously trying to cover your thighs or stomach with objects in the room. Choose a holiday dress that you know you will be comfortable in. So the goal is to start … [Read more...]

Styling Suedes and Prints

Layers are truly my thing lately. Since I am baby wearing all the time, it's important that I have layers on since I overheat so quickly, but at the same time, I try not to lose my sense of style. One fabric that I have never really worked with (except for with shoes) is suede, so I stepped outside of my comfort zone and bought these super cute (and feel like I'm wearing pajamas) Faux Suede Ankle Zip Leggings from Express at the beginning of fall and they have been one of my favorites since. Originally, I bought this White Ladder Shoulder Knit Boxy Sweater from Express (not pictured) to go with these leggings since they are a little difficult to match with certain colors, but I figured that it would be more fun to play with other pieces I have in my closet instead for these pictures. If you have followed me through my pregnancy, you might recognize this top from my bump water photo shoot. It's from Loyal Hanna and it truly did take me from pregnancy through breastfeeding and beyond. It's perfect for postpartum because it's very forgiving and a fun print that makes you feel like your old self again. Truth: I have a sort of love/hate relationship with this photo. It definitely shows me and the way that I laugh all day long at the silliest things (especially Branden's one liners). But, you can also see very clearly where I gained most of my pregnancy weight - in my thighs. I have been working on being kind to myself and not being too judge, but … [Read more...]

Weekend Style

Weekends: they go by way too quick and don't happen soon enough. Our weeks have been long with both work and homework and Chris has been working one weekend day every weekend, which means I'm without him one day. I always tend to take on extra work that one day that I didn't have a chance to get done that week instead of just stopping to enjoy the kids and relax, which is my biggest challenge right now. I do really love what I do, but I need to take more time to just be - before these sweet days pass me by. This Cheerily Snuggle Set is one of my most favorite things that Blake has in her closet and I totally tried to copy it with my favorite No Nonsense Relaxed Leggings (buy them asap - they are the comfiest!!) and H&M graphic tee. So you could say that our weekend style is super relaxed. Branden has to be dressed up all week for school, so weekends are all about joggers and graphic tees for him, too. And to be honest - we only have so many dress up outfits for this little nugget, it's all leggings and tees because babies need to be comfy and cozy! Do you ever feel like that, too? Where weekends are just filled with playing catch up. I always wished they were three days long so that I could have two days to relax and one to catch up before everything starts all over again. It's sometimes hard (really hard) to turn off that need to get things done, but I challenge you to do it along with me. I keep trying to remind myself that I'm not … [Read more...]

Styling Flared Denim

I will happily admit that as soon as skinny denim became "the in thing," I jumped on it like a crazy woman. I talk about making sure to dress for your body shape all the time and know what works with your body (aka always show off your assets) and for me - my legs were that thing. (If you need more advice, check out my Dressing For Your Body Shape Series HERE!) But before then, I did love my flared denim and Lucky Brand was always my go-to. So since I decided that I'm reinventing my postpartum style, I decided to kick skinny jeans to the curb (but not completely!) and share a little "how to style flared denim" post - because we can all wear it and shouldn't be afraid of it. For this entire look, I went to my beloved TJMaxx to get some great finds for super cheap and put together this layered look that is really fun for fall. I'm really into vests this season and also love a baggy shirt that is not only great for layering, but hides my not-so-favorable areas around my stomach. How to Style Flared Denim It really doesn't have to be as tricky as you think! Here are my tips: Be very conscious of fit and make sure that they are tailored to your body type. If a pair is super long, but fit up top - get them hemmed! That's what I did with these, because most denim is long on my anyways. And most definitely make sure that they're hemmed to the right height to wear with the shoes you are planning to wear with them. (Hem Tape also works well, if you're lazy … [Read more...]

Reinventing My Postpartum Style

Okay, I'll admit it: leggings have been my jam lately. And you know what? Rightfully so because easing back into dressing in your pre-pregnancy clothes after you just had a baby is not always a fun situation. Some things fit right away - others not so much. Some things get set aside for when the weight is dropped and others just get tossed. For me, I'm trying to ease back into it all slowly, and leggings have been a big part of that journey. Denim leggings are seriously the bomb because they go with literally everything. Because they are super forgiving, I'm able to focus a little bit less on that size tag and more on how I'm actually feeling. My current favorites are the No Nonsese Classic Denim Jegging, as they are pretty much perfection up against my skin. It's all about layering with me lately and I have no problem admitting that it's because it helps hide that little something something around my mid-section that wasn't there before. As I looked through my closet recently, I realized that I didn't have much in terms of the pattern or texture department, so I decided to make playing with those two wardrobe components my goals as I entered into reinventing my postpartum style. This peplum blouse is from TJMaxx online where I've been finding quite a bit of fashion gems lately. Before having kids, I used to visit TJMaxx and spend hours playing dress-up in their fitting rooms. After kids - not so much. Online is just better for my lifestyle right … [Read more...]
