Well, Mother’s Day is rolling around again this weekend, as well we all know thanks to the commercials, advertisements, and card displays at each end of every aisle in the grocery/drug store. Yes, it is an excuse to get gifts and have a day that is centered all around you and the things you do all year long, each and every day for your family. It’s nice, don’t get me wrong, but sometimes I wonder if we are really, truly taking the time to celebrate ourselves?

Because this special holiday has been created, I feel that we Mamas tend to put ourselves aside and only take the time to really celebrate ourselves on that one day, when we deserve so much more than that. Whether you are a Mom, Grandmother, Godmother, Aunt, Stepmother, Birthmother, or anything else I missed, you need time to celebrate you!

I don’t think that we need to be celebrating ourselves in grand ways everyday.  But even if it is for that 5 minutes you get after you fight for the radio to be changed to your favorite station to hear a song that will brighten your day, own that moment and embrace that happiness!  Gonna be a Bright, Bright, Sunshine-y Day!  Yes, like that!

So I will leave you with this quick thought as you go off to have a fabulous Mother’s Day weekend…please take this vow with me: I promise to do something every day that makes me happy!

What do you do to celebrate you?

Fashionably Yours,

  1. L. Somma says:

Happy Mother’s Day to you. Give Mr. Grumpy a big hug for me.

  2. Happy Mother’s Day, Ali!
