Give thanks. Celebrate. Give back.

Such powerful words at this time of year that serve as little reminders for a big concept – telling us that we need to slow down, think about what really matters, and help those in need.

Just yesterday, I was out with B picking out holiday pajamas and asked him which ones he wanted. “Mom, I want Thanksgiving ones,” was his response – not a one in sight. It’s so overwhelming to me how this holiday with a message that has such an impact gets so overshadowed with green and red. But, it’s up to us as parents to make sure the message gets carried through.

I’ve been working with SoCozy this year and both Branden and I love their products and always look forward to trying out new ones. (HINT: Their hair care products for kids make excellent stocking stuffers!) I’m so excited to share their partnership with WIN this season, a charity that transforms the lives of New York City homeless women and their children by providing a holistic solution of safe housing, critical services and ground-breaking programs they need to succeed on their own — so the women can regain their independence and their children can look forward to a brighter future.

This season, while we are all being social, think of Thanksgiving and what it really means. Take a few minutes and gather up your children, your friend’s children, nieces, nephews – everyone – and get your hands busy by making turkey hands! You know that you remember these from your childhood! Once everyone is finished with their festive creation, snap a quick picture and share on facebook, twitter, or Instagram using the hashtag #socozyhair – and SoCozy will donate $1 to WIN.

I will be participating and encourage you all to do so as well. After all, what could be better than giving back and teaching your kids through an activity that brings the whole family together?! Nothing better!

I would LOVE to see your turkey hands! Please share your donation pictures by leaving a link in the comments below.

Fashionably Yours,

  1. I love hand turkeys! These are so sweet and a great keepsake or to decorate for Thanksgivings to com.

  2. This sounds like a great campaign. So any people forget or don’t consider that Thanksgiving is far more than just a meal.

  3. Sounds like a great campaign! It’s so important to give back! Thanksgiving is a special time to rethink priorities and donate your time for others who need!

  4. I’ll have to have have my mom have my little sister do it. She will love it.
