Thank you to Dr. Oetker USA LLC for sponsoring this post. Visit the store locator to find Virtuoso Pizza by Dr. Oetker in a retailer near you! As a kid, I remember wanting nothing more than to be an adult, living in an adult world and doing all the adult things. It seemed magical – with endless freedom and no bedtime to worry about. Perfection, right? And then adulthood happens…while there really are so many great things about making our own decisions and choosing the right paths in life, there's an awful lot about adulting that kind of makes you just want to be a kid again (ahem...bills, work, more bills). For me, if I could, I wouldn't ever have to cook dinner anymore. For real. I'm not the greatest cook, hate the dinnertime dash and the daily, "okay, what does everyone want for dinner tonight so I can defrost some meat?" conversation. (And full-time cleaning help wouldn't hurt either...) But that stress is relieved whenever I know that I have Virtuoso Pizza by Dr. Oetker in my freezer. In fact, if I could, I would probably eat pizza for dinner every night. No kidding, that's how much I love the stuff. But my love for Virtuoso Pizza by Dr. Oetker runs deep. Here’s why – it’s not a frozen pizza that just appeals to kids that parents just deal with, it’s delicious for the whole family. It comes in both Classic and Thin + Crispy Crust varieties (we're fans of thin, but whatever strikes your fancy is sure to be delicious with this brand!) The flavors are … [Read more...]

The Keto Diet For Beginners {Giveaway}

This is a sponsored post for SheSpeaks/Rubbermaid®. Thanks for supporting Project Motherhood! A couple months ago, I shared with you all that I had hired a health coach and all the amazing things that I learned from her. My sessions with her ended in August, but I have kept practicing everything that she taught me and have really been seeing amazing results. One thing that has stood out to me beyond everything was how wonderful I feel whenever I stick with the keto diet and overtime I mention it (especially on instagram) everyone always seems so interested. So I wanted to share a little bit more background on the keto diet, my favorite keto diet foods, and many keto recipes to come! Overall, for me, sticking with the keto diet means that I do need to think ahead a little but (but not nearly as much as with Whole30), and it works for me because there are more dinner recipes that my whole family loves, so meal time is much easier. What's the keto diet? Ok, I'm not a doctor here, but the keto diet basically puts your body into a state of ketosis, where it's burning fat instead of carbohydrates for energy. It's a high fat, moderate protein, low carb lifestyle. The breakdown you want to aim for is 70% fat, 20% protein and 10% carbs, but your daily macro count is different for everyone (you can use this calculator to see where yours fall based on your goals). I use the Lose It App to count my macros every single day (if you don't do this you risk your cholesterol going … [Read more...]

The Best Cardigan Sweaters For Women #MomStyleMonday

This post contains affiliate links.  Okay friends, I'm diving right in today to something that I honestly think is the epicenter of the fall/winter wardrobe: cardigan sweaters for women. They are the best in general but perfect for layering and just feeling warm and cozy as the weather gets colder. More than anything else, I'm personally drawn to cardigans most when I'm shopping just because I know it's a clothing item that I will use all the time. I throw them on with jeans when going out or leggings for days when I'm working from home - they are perfection in my eyes. (And if you missed last week's guide, I talked about colored denim!) For a day out in Central Park with the fam a couple weeks ago (when there was actually a chill in the air), I paired my Pink Blush Grey Ruffle Trim Cardigan with some flared denim and a basic navy tee. First, you all know how much I love Pink Blush, so when shopping there for a great cardigan, this one popped out to me instantly because of the fun ruffle detailing at the bottom. It's super lightweight, so great for layering and for reference, I'm wearing a size small. It's only $36 so a great item to have handy that won't break the bank. // Grey Ruffle Trim Cardigan c/o Pink Blush // Because I tend to wear leggings and skinny denim all the freaking time, I wanted to pull my flared denim from out of the back of my closet and actually put it to some use. If you are nervous (like me) about wearing flare denim sometimes … [Read more...]

Our Knight Turned Nine

  One week ago exactly, I was filled with so much excitement as I picked Branden up from the bus stop and brought him home to find his new, big 9-year-old bike waiting for him. Just as I expected, he was quickly overflowing with excitement and just like he does every year, exclaimed that it was the "best birthday ever." Chris and I sat back and watched him enjoy his special day, while we also reminisced about the last nine years and how lucky we are to call this boy ours. The weekend following his birthday, he had a special dinner hosted at Medieval Times in Lyndurst, NJ (just a quick 25 minute drive from us) with sweet family and friends who truly made it a birthday to remember. Our funny little backstory about Medieval Times is that we went about three years ago and our super picky eater couldn't get enough of the tomato bisque soup that's serve during your dinner. He loved it so much that I tried to re-create it a couple times at home and it just didn't compare. So whenever he first bit into this soup - the one he talks about all the time and was so excited to ave again - I had to get the picture on film. And of course, for the adults, there was wine. In all honesty though, I look at this picture and I definitely see a boy whose growing up right before my very eyes. I've watched those toddler features fade over the years, because as moms, we pay attention to these almost painful details, yet are immediately met with so much happiness … [Read more...]

How to Style Colored Denim For Fall #MomStyleMonday

This post contains affiliate links.  It's not everyday that I get to do a blog post that's all about me and my main man, so when an opportunity came up for a fun, fall fashion collaboration, I couldn't have said "yes" any faster! As you all know, I've loved Liverpool Jeans Company for quite some time and they truly gave me the confidence this spring to be me again after having Blake. Well, I'm back sharing a little bit more their latest additions: colored denim for fall. The extra special part is that they have them for both men and women (yup, they just launched a men's line!) - so you can match your partner! I know, we're cute lol But here we are in our matching Olive colored denim for fall. Chris is wearing the Slim Straight c/o Liverpool Jeans and I'm wearing the Mid Rise Ankle Skinny c/o Liverpool Jeans.  First, let's talk fit: The men's version is definitely a little bit on the smaller side, so you might want to try them on or order up a size in the waist. He's all about the henley tees this year and these look great with the classic grey, but don't be afraid to pair with some color, too. My city guy for life! Women's Fit: I'm wearing a size 6 in these and they honestly fit like a glove! I think the women's version is a bit more forgiving. They cover my muffin top and are super comfy and super stretchy that I honestly want to wear them everyday (keep scrolling to see them in another color!). You probably recognize this top from my Golden Tote … [Read more...]

My Jogging Journey With The BOB Revolution Flex Lunar Stroller

I was gifted the BOB Revolution Flex Lunar Stroller to try out and share my review.  Unless you are incredibly disciplined, sticking with a regular fitness routine as a parent can be challenging. It always seems to be that "thing" that gets put on the back burner if we get too busy and unless you go to a gym that has child care - those days when the kids are sick or act up gets added to the list of reasons why not to workout. Well, I've found my reason "why to" with the new Bob Revolution Flex Lunar Jogging Stroller.  I recently opening up about my running struggles postpartum and how it really took me much longer than expected to hit the pavement again and all the (silly) things that held me back. I've always made time for fitness at least 3 days a week, working out at home, but there's just a rush that I get from running that I had really found myself missing. I realized that perfect resolution for a busy mom is to get a jogging stroller so that I can run again, first thing in the morning after we drop Branden off at school and have Blake with me along for the ride (ahem, no child care needed = no excuses!). And as you can see, Blake loves being along for the ride! Check out my video review here! First, whenever I started querying my friends about the perfect  jogging stroller, every single person told me to look into BOB without hesitation, which says a lot, and I definitely agree with their enthusiasm. The absolute only downfall of this stroller is … [Read more...]

How to Practice Positive Parenting

This post is brought to you by Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital at NYU Langone and The Motherhood. All opinions are my own. Mamas: I will be the first person to admit wholeheartedly that I lose it sometimes as a parent. I don’t always make the perfect decisions and I’ve been called “the mean mom” before by my almost nine year old. It comes with the territory. But on the flipside, I’m also the mom who believes in positive parenting and having it be a part of my everyday, and will lay awake at night feeling immense mom guilt if I didn’t help foster a positive experience or moments during the day for my kids. It’s all about balance with parenthood, amiright? I will repeat over and over that I’m not the perfect parent, because that doesn’t exist. We’re all just learning as we go and making the best choices as we can on a daily basis with the best interest of our kiddos in mind. At the end of the day, I always want my kids to know that they can come to me for a huge dose of positivity and lots and lots of hugs. Here’s how I help to practice positive parenting in my everyday life. We play. This summer, I mixed up my regular routine a bit so that I could take a break in the afternoon everyday before Blake’s nap to spend some quality time with the kids. Whether we go to the park or do an indoor science experiment or board game, it gives us a chance to connect and step outside of our tech filled days. We make sure we have down time. I feel like this is … [Read more...]

Our Next Steps With a Busy Toddler

I received product and compensation from Mead Johnson Nutrition to create this post written by me. All experiences and opinions expressed in this post are my own and not those of Mead Johnson Nutrition. You can contact Mead Johnson Nutrition with product related questions or comments toll free at 1-888-777-3395. I will fully admit that I find myself saying silently over and over again, “just breathe in and out” lately. Our little baby Blake just turned one and even though I have fully embraced and enjoyed those last, sweet baby moments, it’s so hard for me to believe that we have a toddler on our hands now - officially. A giggly, full of life, still sleeps with her bum up in the air toddler ready to take in all that the world around her has to offer and we’re so excited to be along for the ride. While there are so many things that we now need for these toddler years (and a lot more things that we don’t - thank goodness!), Enfagrow® Toddler Next Step™ was the first thing on my list to get as our baby officially hit this milestone.   Did you know that 85% of brain growth happens during the first three years of life? It’s true, and so important for us parents to take note of this to help ensure our toddlers are getting important DHA to help nourish this brain growth. Experts recommend that toddlers have 70-100 mg/day of DHA to support early brain and eye development on average, a toddler’s diet only provides about 25% of the amount experts recommend. I do the best I … [Read more...]
