It’s that time of year whenever sunshine is beginning to peak through the clouds, and even though there is still a very cold chill in the air in New York City, we are all beginning to feel a sense of newness wash over us at that start of spring. With those very fresh feelings, we also begin to feel a sense of dread because we know it’s the time of year for some spring cleaning. Living in a tiny New York City apartment, I am always condensing and giving away things that we don’t need, otherwise there is no room for us – but organizing is key for our family.

I will be the first to admit it though, our home isn’t always in tip top shape, and as we speak both my kitchen and bathroom could use a good scrub a dub dub. I’m about to get real here, this is what my dresser is looking like right now:

We are doing our spring cleaning this weekend! But here are some spring cleaning tips I wanted to share to work on all aspects of your life!

Spring Cleaning & Organizing Tips

For the garage

This is where we toss everything that we don’t have room for in the house, so reclaiming your garage is a great place to start! I suggests setting aside time to take on the project, preferably back to back days and start prepared through purchasing all the organizing things you need (correct shelves, boxes, buckets, etc) ahead of time. Take the time to evaluate and start the project with a plan, then begin with grouping items together, replacing them in their proper new homes!

For the home

Home organizing doesn’t have to be difficult! She will guide you through the whole process of putting together a long -term plan to help you stay organized. Focus on re-purposing items, donating items, and discarding things you are no longer using, to start!

For the business

Having trouble getting organized in the office?  With office organizing, you need to take it one step further, beyond just de-cluttering, but focus on a plan to help you with bills, tax documents, events, expenses, etc. These items are so important to have a grasp on that being organized financially will help keep your mind at ease.

If you are moving

This is something that we all struggle with, especially in the city! Condensing and getting rid of items unneeded in your new home is a huge task, but start by  preparing all of your important records first, so you always know where they are. Then, ask yourself: What items to keep, sell, give away and throw out? Sorting through with these categories in mind will help you navigate all of your stuff in a much more manageable way!

Happy spring cleaning!
